A self indulgent shot.
Tuesday rears its ugly head once again..only because there is school.
One full day after the end of all my official assignments and I am still basking in the happiness that it is finally all over – except for one last exam and a 50% film essay but let’s just call it..minor details!
Did a hosting event for Citigems yesterday after being stagnant from emceeing for super long and thankfully it wasn’t too tough. Much thanks to Mel & Stef for coming down!
And today, I attended SS4 with Jo Ann! A little over a year since SS3 here last year. It’s been a year, but the Suju boys still look and sound magnificient. I am aware that they are all getting older but it just feels like they are only getting better and better. Plus I love how they are the most personable boyband I know. A few of them spent almost an entire song going around the stadium to take pictures with the fans. Too nice. :’) And after seven (SEVEN!!!) whole years of being a fan and knowing that they might possibly be stopping activities for quite awhile after this series of concerts, I almost feel a sense of peace and closure.
Actually started on the next post for my Phuket trip (which was eons ago, I know) so I am hoping to complete it ASAP. In the meantime, I AM FREE!
Now time for some quality sleep. Attempting to learn the shuffling dance to Lovey Dovey but I end up tripping over my feet instead.
xx
1. Record songs with Michy
2. Finish 1Q84 and read Kamikaze Girls
3. Sort out my music and CDs
4. Dance
5. Continue planning for K-land
Comfortably tucked into bed and marvelling at the crisp visual display that is my i4 screen after removing my highly damaged screen protector. Guess it has served its purpose well.
With only tentatively three weeks of school left, I am suddenly at a loss of where to go next.
I still clearly remember that wanting to come to CMM in TP was a decision that was unquestionable. I had no qualms that this was what I wanted to do – and now that I am nearing the end of my poly life I know that I have not regretted my choice – though I do wish I could have retained information I’ve learnt better. Oh. Well. Least I know I’ve gone through the…motions?
So while everyone is busy trying to finish our assignments before school’s officially out for good, I am aware that I ought to be checking out schools and courses..oh man. Stared at the application page on NUS for a good five minutes just now not even knowing what I was doing since I can barely decide on what I want to study next. I honestly don’t know, and even if I do, the question is whether or not I can actually make it in.
Need some help. How now. Sigh.
Lengthy picture-y post ahead since I haven’t been able to blog properly in the past week.
So on Thursday, I finally turned 2-0. I wouldn’t say I was anticipating it since I am officially in my twenties oh Lord…but despite the deadlines on Wednesday and Friday (Must be sick of seeing that word appear here by now), I’m really glad that I found time to have dinner with friends & family.
Thanks for the surprise on Fri :’) Especially to everyone involved in the coordinating. Was so sure that I was going to stay in school hugging Stop Press 4 life but thanks to my awesome group members I managed to make it on time for dinner at Sarang – where I found all the poly peeps there waiting to surprise me with Cher! Love you all!!!
Pictures on Thursday itself when my dear groupmates and I trooped to Ikea after school to scarf down meatballssss to celebrate before heading to Fi’s to do work.
Fi is now an iPhone convert, despite a very disgruntled Julia.
With the Yuying bunch at Timbre that night.
Timbre has changed quite a bit – they’ve replaced their menus with iPads at every table and orders are sent directly to the kitchen. They’ve also set up water barrels at the counter so people can help themselves. Great way to cut costs, I suppose.
Pretty cake from The Icing Room – thank you Hannie.
Thank you Lai Han for dedicating Drops of Jupiter to me!! I heard the singer announce she was going to sing it but I didn’t know it was your request.
I love you dear girl.
Went to Starbucks after for abit which erupted a series of funny shots from the friends.
D has the cutest expressions!!
I don’t even know what is going on in this photo haha. And check out Lai Han’s multi-coloured BB please.
Pictures from Friday!
Thank you girls for everything!
One of the cutest couples I know – Dee & Eden!
It’s been a blast, thank you guys so much. <3
It’s that time of the year again for my favourite festive season! Awkward small talk, weight-gaining and trying to remain zen amidst my mum screeching at me to get up early aside – there is no reason why I do not like the Lunar New Year. I think the main reason is likely because it’s the only occasion that my family bothers about, and that in itself is a great reason to embrace it!
When we were younger, everything definitely felt a lot more exciting with the novelty of ang paos (red packets) and house-hopping – but that’s not to say that I don’t enjoy it as much now that I’m older. I think my favourite year so far has definitely got to be the one when my birthday fell on chu yi (the first day of the New Year) – double ang paos galore!
Right now, I’m sitting at home after House No. 1 attempting to start on one more article for Stop Press. Ha ha ha but shall not bother about feeling sorry for myself, more good food to come!
May the year of the Dragon bring you lots of luck, wealth and success in all you do.
For myself, I hope that I’ll be blessed in all aspects of life too, and may my family and friends always be happy and healthy.
祝你们大家新年快乐!

Some of my all-time favourite people from YouTube are coming down to Singapore on the 28th Feb. Sniffling in happiness. I am going to meet the awesome people behind WongFuProductions! In the meantime, I shall devise something coherent to ask them when I do meet them.
And also, before meeting the boys of WongFu, my final K-pop concert for a while (hopefully): Super Show 4 on February 18th and 19th! Going for the show on the 19th with Jo Ann woohooo and it’s the last time we’re seeing some of them boys before they hit military service in Korea for real.
I swear the amount of performing events I have gone for in the past year is insane, but although people are always baffled at the amount of money I spend, I haven’t regretted going for a single one. In all seriousness (fan-girl talk aside) it’s pretty spectacular to see huge set-ups at concert venues and the effort invested into putting up every single production. Most people have things they splurge on – and what I buy myself are the experiences and memories I take away from seeing/listening to the artistes I grew up with live. Sometimes, I wonder if the reason why I am so spurred on to attend such expensive concerts is due to my secret innate desire to perform too. To stand on a stage as big and grand as the ones I see, performing to a sold-out audience who pay an obscene amount of money just to see me!
To dream is bliss.
Sooooo with those motivating factors coupled with my trip to K-land, the next four or five weeks are gonna be nothing but little bridges to cross. Btw, attempting to spring-clean my laptop now – or my Documents to be exact. I can’t believe the maze of folders within folders I have.
Truly stuck in document and photo limbo.
xx
Sometimes I don’t know why I worry myself silly at night, right before I got to bed with my gazillion tabs & word doc pages open, but my mind completely blank. The past few weeks have been taxing so far, but I refuse to accept that this is what my body and thoughts are getting accustomed to.
Sometimes I feel like I’m ghosting through days although when I speak to people, they always seem to laugh really hard or engage themselves in conversations I cannot remember having. Or maybe it’s because lately I have been treating myself like an extra strict parent to myself – can’t remember (again) the last time I’ve been so annoyed with myself over the smallest things.
Sometimes I am reminded there is so much more to life than a few silly assignments and a couple of lousy grades, but right now they shall remain my top priority, and I hope that I will live and breathe easy for the remaining couple of weeks. That ideas will continue to seep into my head effortlessly so I can churn out quality work in the shortest amount of time possible.
Goodnight, you worrywart.
On Friday, Darien and Lai Han came down to TP to visit!
It’s a really nice feeling when your secondary school friends come down to your current school to visit you. I think it’s just seeing your old friends in a new place and getting to know your life and see the people you hang out with. Anyway, Jonathan booked us all tickets to the Titanic Exhibit @ MBS – which I really wanted to go for!!!! I remember blogging about it before too. Was initially reserving the trip there for my mum and I but she’s so busy and all that I decided that I might as well go first. Still hoping to take her there though.
Ended my class around 3PM so brought the two around TP while we waited for Jon to finish class at 6PM.
And then we were off! Happiness = friends who drive. Especially when they drive all the way to TP to fetch you LOL.
But it also struck me how we’re all really growing older together. All these people getting their licenses and going to army..soon we’ll be attending each other’s weddings.
Giving a trigger happy Lai Han the evil eye.
Arriving at the heart of Singapore city!
This was the second time in two weeks that we had been to the Marina Bay Sands area together. Wonder if it’s gonna be our permanent hangout area soon. But the place is really gorgeous. Although it’s all man-made beauty it’s still pretty amazing, and the scenery is super pretty at night.
Stop slouching Jon you look super short!!
The walk from the place Darien parked to the actual ArtScience museum isn’t long but I can’t believe we walked till the sun set! I didn’t even really notice till I posted the photos.
So pretty at night! Plus they sometimes have this light show on the water. I’m not sure if it’s just Fridays and weekends though – probably is. It’s really spectacular with the lights dancing on the water and the entire place is lit up really beautifully.
Reasons why we take so long to get to the actual building.
More distractions along the way.
When we FINALLY got to the museum it was already about 8PM and we only had about two hours to view two exhibits so we thought we were pressed for time. Okay I guess to most two hours to run through a museum would be sufficient but we are geeks who want to read everything on the walls as well okay?!
Anyway, I really really really love the Titanic exhibit! It wasn’t crowded when we got there and the place was dimly lit and very atmospheric. I was excited to see how they were going to tell the story of the Titanic and it was so much better than I expected. There is something hauntingly beautiful about the place. I knew there were going to be interesting artefacts and the actual iceberg replica and all but the way they actually moulded the area to allow you to feel like you were travelling throughout the exact ship was amazing. I really regretted not taking photos at the Grand Staircase. :’(
Photos aren’t allowed but I did snap a quick shot in the corridors of the first class rooms! This was the first thing we saw when we stepped ‘into’ the ship. Before the actual entering you will get to read up more on the ship and her sister ships’ manufacturing in a small hall. Nothing beats the actual interior though.
So what you get to see is mainly how ship looked like as you walk through. They re-enacted how a first and third class cabin looked like and also displayed actual belongings of the ship’s passengers that they retrieved from the ocean bed after 75 years. Really cool to see how these items actually survive the harsh conditions of the sea. Plus, everything felt very personal – you can smell faint hints of perfume in the first class cabin and also burning coal in the boiler room! The details are very specific to give you a good gauge and also to let you immerse yourself in the experience completely.
I really like how they managed to profile some passengers too – giving us an insight into their life before boarding Titanic, such as their jobs and families. They do put up information on survivors too.
They also have an incredible deck! It was supposedly for the first class passengers, and the way it was structured made it look like an actual deck of a ship. I swear the waters and stars in the ‘sky’ looked super real. We also walked through the ship’s boiler room (Decked out in red, eerie lights) and got to touch the superdupercold iceberg tip. It was constructed to allow us to feel the same temperature (As much as possible) the waters were that night.
Anyway, we were given boarding passes – made to look like the actual ones in 1912 – when we entered with an actual passenger’s name on it (along with some background info) and the cabin class they were on. Lai Han and I both got 2nd class female passengers and the guys got third class males. So when we checked out the passenger wall in the exhibit, we found out that our girls survived and both guys perished.
What I really like about the exhibit is generally how the entire walk through is presented. For people who have never heard of the Titanic (Pfft) you start off not knowing anything, but as you go along you can actually read and feel the series of events happening and then finally reach the ‘sea bed’ where the ship rests and view actual footage.
Read an interesting review of the Titanic exhibition here. A second, more personal one by my friend Xinying on HerWorld.sg here.
In all, the walk through was incredibly enjoyable and I would recommend anyone to go!!!
After the Titanic tour, we went to view the Cartier exhibit and its exhoribitantly beautiful time pieces before dinner. Sigh. Money. Was pretty cool too but I think we were all marveled by the previous exhibit that we were a bit stoned. Not to mention hungry!!
Took them to the place Mel and I ate at the last time we stayed at MBS! Kraze Burger.
And Pudding photos from my i4.
Candy store after dinner – Lai Han’s favourite place!
Was snapping photos of Lai Han as she frolicked around the store. I hope she never fully grows up because she is so adorable!!! Hahah I love how real she is and Lai Han when you read this please praise me. Thanks.
My failed attempt to ruin their shot.
Spent the rest of the night we had together sitting by the river and letting the wind blast at us and ruin all our hair while talking about Yuying days. Friday well-spent.
The weekend has been good so far, and I can’t wait for Chinese New Year to come! It’s my favourite holiday and the only time my parents actually take time off work.
Can’t wait for the influx of food and ching chong songs. Also, Chong Aik will be ending his internship in five weeks – just in time after I finish a couple of bigass assignments for good. When are we going to dance, baby!
P/S:
To Cher, I hope work has been treating you well and you aren’t that busy. Sorry I haven’t been able to meet you lately either, come over soon!! <3
To Reb, I hope you are having a good time in Beijing and that you enjoyed this entry!!! BBQ ONCE YOU ARE HOME.
xx night all.
I swear blogging about my entire Phuket trip is gonna take me forever – now I know how hard it is to document trips! Respect to all travel bloggers. But because this was a special one to me, I shall attempt to complete it ASAP so I won’t forget any important details. But then again, if they were really important, I wouldn’t forget them now would I!!
More shots from when we were at Wat Chalong:
Hahah not very flattering for anyone but…I’m sorry!!!
Sister being cute! Hahah she’s so adorable when she isn’t being annoying…which is all the time.
That’s my dad wearing really girly, ugly shades because we didn’t have any others on hand.
Was attempting to take a photo with my mum in the background but she just stalked off LOL.
The area had the usual row of touristy shirts and stuff – mostly overpriced and not very visually appealing anyway.
My sister and I didn’t know we were going to the temples that day so we wore shorts – which is considered inappropriate whenever you visit places like that. Go in jeans! (Be prepared to melt in the sun though)
After staying there for a while longer, we decided to head up the mountains to where The Big Buddha sits. From wherever we stood at Wat Chalong, we could already see it even though it was quite a distasnce – reason being it was sooooo big! The drive up itself took quite a while, and it was a really steep ride up.
ELEPHANTS ON THE WAY UPPP.
Another thing I noticed were the amount of stalls that are actually set up along the way – despite the mountain being so steep! Okay maybe it’s considered a hill…but still! Plus imagine the long drive down everyday haha.
A stall selling coconuts!
Finally arrived!
Accidental overexposed shot makes for great photo.
Huge sculpture sitting atop a hill.
I didn’t know we could actually climb all the way to the top (where the green fencing is) but we did and the view was really amazing! And it’s really nice to be up so high where it’s really windy and the air seems so much fresher when it is not tainted with pollutants. From the photo above it doesn’t look very high but remember we were already atop a high hill!
The Big Buddha is actually pieced together with tiles, and each tile has a signature or message written behind it by a visitor! It’s actually still being pieced together so it was pretty cool knowing that your tile is gonna be part of it.
When you get up, closer to the sculpture you can actually see that it is not completely finished.
Lots of wind chimes on the way up! So pretty. The leaf-like things look like hearts. But why are they leaf-like then…
Views from the top!!!
My sister did that little braiding fringe thing on her own and I think she looks so cute. Like a kampung girl!!!
Attempted to take a photo with the scenery in the background but it ended up being too windy so I turned the other way instead LOL.
HAHA gross coloured skirts. WEAR JEANS.
But anyway, we were buying coconut ice cream and it was the best coconut ice cream ever!! My mum and dad insisted they didn’t want any and ended up finishing ours.
Left shortly after for the malls near Patong Beach!
Steamboat for late lunch/early dinner! My sis and I insisted on half tomyum and ended up drowning all the food itself and not touching it. I still like Tomyum though!
We ate steamboat like 4x when we were there hahaha I love it!! I get full really easily just by drinking the soup.
Awkward end because we didn’t do much for the rest of the day. Didn’t buy anything that day either! So that pretty much summed up Day 1 of our trip there
New entry above!
